According to two new studies, drinking diet soda increases your weight. Even if you only drink one diet soda a day you’re 65% more likely to become overweight during the next 7-8 years, and you’re 41% more likely to become obese. The reason why is the aspartame, which apparently makes you more hungry and it interferes with your body’s signals that you’re full.
And it gets worse. It also increases your chances of diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Even if you drink just one diet soda a day you’re 61% more prone to cardiovascular disease, and it increases your chances of problems like diabetes by 34%.
However, experts say that they’re unsure of telling people what level of diet soda intake is dangerous and suggest moderation.
