Some Things I Don’t Understand

Some Things I Don’t Understand.

Read it. Seriously. One of the best things I’ve ever read about weight discrimination.

It took me a minute…I was like, Hey! Where’s the rest.

    Good point. 🙂

It was, and unfortunately, too true.

Makes me wonder, people were born with brains, right? So why don’t they just think?

    • Yeah, very true. I weigh 137 (down from 145) and I’m 5’1 1/2″. According to the BMI I am “overweight.” And, according to the BMI, when I was 95lbs, I was still within “normal,” even though all the bones in my body were sticking out. The BMI just doesn’t work but they keep toting it as the End All Be All, when there are better things to use. Plus, you can be “overweight” and healthy.

People don’t like to think about this sort of thing. To say that it’s okay to be overweight and that overweight people can be healthy is to go against society and what a lot of doctors say. It can be very scary to go against what society says is normal and right. I think that’s why people listen to the sort of garbage that says you have to be within this range on the BMI and be this clothing size (even though I’ve covered earlier that clothing size isn’t even standardized anymore and hasn’t been since 1983 or so).
