Recently, several “news” sources started reporting that Lady Gaga had gained weight, using photos that were altered in some way to misrepresent her body and make her look heavier than she really is. Many of these so-called news sources do this to celebrities a lot because shaming someone’s body is, apparently, their meal ticket.
Now, I’m not a big Gaga fan or anything, but Lady Gaga’s response to this wins her huge kudos and respect, in my opinion.
She posted mostly naked photos of herself — totally un-doctored! — to her website. She also made a confession and admitted that she’s struggled with anorexia and bulimia since she was 15 years old. When she did this, she opened a new sub section on her website called Body Revolution, which allows other people to share their experiences with their bodies; their struggles, their triumphs, their pride, their insecurities.
I, for one, am really proud of her for doing this in such a visible, vulnerable, and powerful way. To read more go here:
